Douglass Township Leaf Collection
Starts October 28 with Adjusted
Thanksgiving Schedule
Douglass Township has announced its annual curbside leaf collection program, set to run from Monday, October 28, 2024, through Friday, December 13, 2024, weather permitting. This seasonal service aims to assist residents by picking up leaves raked to the curb in designated zones throughout the township.
Due to the Thanksgiving and Black Friday holidays, the collection schedule will be adjusted during that week. Residents are encouraged to have their leaves raked to the curb by Sunday evening to ensure pickup during the holiday week.
Leaf Collection Guidelines:
Residents are reminded that only leaves will be collected—no grass clippings, sticks, trimmings, or other debris, as these can damage collection equipment. Leaf piles should be placed no more than 2 to 4 feet from the road to allow the collection equipment to properly reach them. Please ensure that leaves are raked to the curbside the night before the scheduled pick-up day.
Zone Schedule:
Douglass Township has been divided into five zones, with each zone assigned a specific collection day:
Zone 1 (Monday): Includes streets such as Ammon Ave., Barley Dr., Congo Rd., and Willow Lane.
Zone 2 (Tuesday): Covers areas including Arrow Dr., Gilbertsville Rd., Moore Dr., and Thrush Drive.
Zone 3 (Wednesday): Features streets like Congo-Niantic Rd., Fairview Circle, Hill Rd., and Wild Run Rd.
Zone 4 (Thursday): Includes Amadeo Dr., Buchert Road (W. of Gilbertsville Rd.), Linda Dr., and Philadelphia Ave.
Zone 5 (Friday): Covers streets such as Acorn Dr., Broad St., Highland Ave., Mill St., and Roosevelt Dr.
Residents are encouraged to consult the township website or contact the Douglass Township Solid Waste and Recycling Department for specific questions.
For further assistance, residents can call the department at 610-367-2381 or email [email protected].

Dr Dread Reviews "Terror from the Year 5000" - Check out the latest episode of Dr. Dread
filmed at the Peppermint Stick!
In this lighthearted and comedic video, Dr. Dread reviews the 1958 black-and-white sci-fi film Terror from the Year 5000 while visiting Boyertown’s candy The Peppermint Stick. The video starts with a humorous conversation about a large candy tab run up by Bucky and Morty, two recurring characters, before Dr. Dread conducts his movie review.
The movie, Terror from the Year 5000, involves a professor who builds a time machine and brings a mysterious statue from the future, which triggers strange and dangerous events. Dr. Dread, along with Bucky and Morty, discuss the film's plot, actors, and overall quality, emphasizing its vintage charm, solid acting, and engaging story. They give the film a rating of "three skulls" out of four, marking it as enjoyable but not a masterpiece.
Interspersed with jokes and playful banter, the video combines a film review with fun commentary from Dr. Dread and his team, all while highlighting the nostalgic atmosphere of the candy store.
